1909 Hudson-Fulton Celebration Medal. First Size. By Emil Fuchs, Struck by Whitehead & Hoag. Miller-23, Rulau-N21. Sterling Silver. MS-63 (NGC).102 mm. This type was designed by Emil Fuchs of London and struck in low relief with a sandblast finish, as illustrated by the present example. Mintage of 1,000 pieces in this format, but with 342 returned to Whitehead & Hoag, the net distribution is just 658 examples. This one is not numbered on the edge. Light pewter gray surfaces are very attractive despite the presence of a few wispy handling marks, which fortunately are mostly out of the way at the borders.
