(t) CHINA--REPUBLIC. Bank of China. 1 Dollar, 1912. P-25zs. S/M#C294-30. Expedient Specimen. PMG About Uncirculated 53. (t)This lot was manufactured in China (including Hong Kong), Canada, Mexico, Russia or Republic of Belarus and was sourced from outside the United States for this auction after tariffs were enacted by the United States. A highly popular Huangdi series 1 Dollar bearing this extremely rare branch name. A neatly printed note retaining most of its vibrant green inks and with light signs of circulation. An attempt was made at some point to erase the blue Yang Ben stamps near the upper border but which doesnt distract from the overall pleasing appearance.
The Huangdi series was the first in which the Bank of China name was used, rather than the black overprints on the Ta Ching Government Bank. Huangdi was used as the central design element perhaps to signify the re-birth of the Chinese nation after the overthrow of the Machu ruled Qing Dynasty or to establish the bank as the National Bank in China. This branch name is surely missing in most collections and here is the chance to acquire a decent example. PMG Comments Erasures, Pinholes. No
