民国九年中国通商银行拾两。样票。(t) CHINA--REPUBLIC. Commercial Bank of China. 10 Taels, 15.1.1920. P-A136s. S/M#C293-32. Specimen. PMG Choice Uncirculated 63 EPQ. (t)This lot was manufactured in China (including Hong Kong), Canada, Mexico, Russia or Republic of Belarus and was sourced from outside the United States for this auction after tariffs were enacted by the United States. Accordingly, any client who wishes to take delivery of this item within the United States will be subject to a 27.5% import tariff for China manufactured items, a 25% import tariff for Canada or Mexico manufactured items and a 35% import tariff for Russia or Belarus manufactured items. In addition, a processing fee of 0.3464% (minimum $31.67 / maximum $634.62) will apply. Please note, this is not, and is not intended to be, a complete description of the applicable import tariffs and buyer remains fully liable for and agrees to promptly pay all tariffs and fees relating to the import of these items into the United States and neither the auctioneer nor any consignor will have any responsibility to pay any applicable tariffs or fees. Please consult your tax adviser with any questions. Furthermore, any lots subject to an import tariff will be shipped directly from our Hong Kong offices and shipments to the United States will be subject to our international shipping chart. Shanghai. A deeply attractive 10 Tael dated 1920, featuring Caishen, the God of Wealth at centre within a refreshing mix of purple and light blue colours. Lovely original colours on crisp, original paper. Typical narrow margins on the front and somewhat skewed centering on the back are the only grade-limiting factors but do little to detract from the entirely original paper and strong appearance of the note. While the Tael was a widely used currency unit in China at the time surprisingly few notes are denominated in Taels as (Mexican) Silver Dollars were often preferred by the various foreign banks.NoFrom the Norman Lin Collection.
