1795 Washington Grate Halfpenny. Musante GW-49, Baker-29B, W-10955. Large Buttons. Copper. Diagonally Reeded Edge. MS-64 RB (PCGS).28.0 mm. 135.4 grains. Glossy red and brown surfaces with the red areas intense in color and blending pleasantly into the warm brown elsewhere. A couple of small patina spots are noted on the reverse. Nicely struck on a compact flan but ideally centered with no losses to the tops of any letters. Small voids near the L of LONDON are natural planchet flaws.From the Richard August Collection.
