Undated (1795) Washington North Wales Halfpenny. Musante GW-51, Baker-34, W-11150. Two Stars. Copper. Plain Edge. AU-53 (PCGS).26.8 mm. 92.4 grains. An exceptionally pleasing example with warm chocolate brown dominant on the surfaces while some darker toning is evident on the higher points of the obverse. Glossy and about as sharp as these are ever seen, with notable detail on Washingtons epaulet. As these were made to look old and worn from the outset, what constitutes nice tends to be defined by eye appeal more than anything else, and this offers that comfortably. Obverse die broken in the left field, as usually seen. From the Richard August Collection.
