CANADA. Banque du Canada. 5 Dollars, 1935. BC-6s. French Text. Uncut Specimen Pair. Uncirculated. The 1935 $5 has the portrait of a young Prince of Wales, making it more popular than other denominations of the series, except perhaps $20 with the portrait of a young Princess who would one day become known as Queen Elizabeth II. Like the other denominations in the series the French text seen here is much more difficult to find than the English text, with about half as many of the former produced for circulation than the latter. This uncut pair features strong color on both sides, nice margins for the type and no obvious signs of handling. The first time we have offered such specimens in this format, and an important opportunity for the Canadian specialist to add an extremely rare uncut pair of an already iconic issue to their collection.
