Uniface front proof for the iconic French text $50 of the 1935 series of the Bank of Canada. Extremely important for the specialist and in our opinion to be considered a color trial, as the color is different compared to the issued notes, and in fact a handwritten pencil annotation on the back states as such. Highly unusual in this format, this is one of just two such proofs in the PMG population report, with the other one graded just slightly higher. The French text $50 in issued form is an incredible rarity and missing from even the most advanced collections, with most examples seen in heavily circulated condition. This example, even though it is a proof, would still make for a worthwhile addition to any advanced collection.
