CANADA. Banque du Canada. 2 Dollars, 1935. BC-4s. French Text. Uncut Specimen Pair. Uncirculated. The first in an incredible trio of uncut specimen pairs for the 1935 issue with French text. Red specimen overprint and all zero serial number. The initial series issued by the Bank of Canada, this is the sole series of notes that included separate printings with English and French text, the two languages of Canada. No doubt because the French speaking population of the country is much smaller than the English the print runs for the notes text with French text are much smaller than those with English text. For example, for the $2, 22,340,000 English text notes were printed versus 5,300,000 French text notes. Specimens of either variety are incredibly rare and seldom seen. To find an uncut pair such as these is even more unusual. This sheet of two notes has fantastic originality, broad margins, fresh color and will be a welcome addition to any advanced collection of the heavily collected 1935 series.
