Variety with dot after "7". Tied with just one other example for the top spot in the NGC census ( one which we sold in our April 2023 Hong Kong Auction [Lot # 40006], realizing a total of $60,000 ), this exceptional "dragon Dollar" yields a light gray tone with some speckled burnished hues spread elegantly and enticingly throughout. Some minor doubling is noted upon each side, made rather easy to discern on account of its crisp and well-preserved nature. Of note, this example features a full stop dot between the "7" and "MACE," an aspect that only Kann enumerates as a variant. He also recognized a "diminutive" dot after the "7," as K-49B. A RARE and highly desirable offering, especially so attractive and nearly-Choice.
