1773 Virginia Halfpenny. Newman 4-O, W-1470. Rarity-4. No Period After GEORGIVS, 7 Harp Strings. EF Details--Edge Damaged (PCGS). An attractively original piece with warm autumn-brown and olive-copper patina to hard, glossy surfaces. A jewelers saw has been used to cut a trench into the border from 10 to 1 oclock relative to the obverse, thereby explaining the PCGS qualifier. Obverse with numerous fine pin scratches, fewer on the reverse, with an area of corrosion at the upper border on the same side. MDS-LDS with the letter A in VIRGINIA more than half obscured by die swell and deterioration. PCGS# 913272. NGC ID: 2ATL. To view supplemental information and all items from the Sydney F.
