1852 Liberty Seated Quarter. Briggs 2-B. MS-62 (PCGS). CAC.Delicate champagne-pink iridescence engages otherwise brilliant surfaces, the obverse also with speckled olive-russet iridescence through the center. This is a sharply struck and lustrous BU example with an impressively smooth appearance in hand. Scarcer than even a limited mintage of 177,060 pieces might imply, the 1852 suffered a high rate of attrition through melting during the run up in silver prices during the early 1850s. Larry Briggs (<em>The Comprehensive Encyclopedia of United States Liberty Seated Quarters</em>, 1991) assigns this issue a Rarity-5 rating in Mint State.PCGS# 5419.
