1821 Capped Bust Quarter. B-4. Rarity-3. AU-58 (PCGS).Lustrous near-Mint preservation with a bright, satiny texture overall. The surfaces are largely brilliant, although we do note mottled olive-russet iridescence to the obverse acquired during decades spent in an old coin cabinet. Sharply struck. As noted elsewhere in this catalog, the Large Diameter Capped Bust quarter of 1815 to 1828 is challenging to collect in all grades. Few examples were produced, and attrition was high through commercial use and melting. Among lightly circulated survivors that your cataloger (JLA) has handled in the past two decades, hardly any have been as visually appealing as the present 1821.PCGS# 5331.
