1893 Morgan Silver Dollar. Proof-66 (PCGS). CAC.This beautifully toned specimen exhibits rich sandy-mauve peripheral toning on the reverse, while the obverse has more vivid olive, golden-apricot and salmon-pink iridescence. Both sides are sharply struck apart from a touch of typical (for the issue) softness to the central high points. Impressively mirrored in the fields with carefully preserved surfaces that border on pristine.<p>With 792 struck, the Proof 1893 Morgan dollar has one of the lower mintages of the era, falling short of the 1,245 Proofs from the previous year and the 972 what would be produced the following year. Most survivors are in grades of Proof-64 and lower, limited by hairlines and other signs of mishandling. This population becomes even more restricted when eye appeal is taken into account, with even most Gems lacking the outstanding cabinet toning that defines the Millholland Collection specimen.PCGS# 7328.
