San Francisco Mint Cast Silver Ingot. 1956 Round Dated Hallmark. Ingot No. 417. Lot 164. 28.68 Ounces. 999.75 Fine.59.8 mm x 91 mm x 16.8 mm (greatest dimensions). The front face has the circular hallmark near the top, ingot number 417 in the center, weight 2868 OZS below, and 999.75 FINE at the bottom, with FINE impressed at an angle in the lower right corner due to space limitations. Lot number 164 on bottom edge. The other faces are blank. Light silver-gray patina overall, with typical casting imperfections that are deepest and most extensive on the front face, a couple of which interfere with some of the detail in the hallmark. A number of scratches and other light handling marks on the front and back faces are noted.Collector tag included.
