1977 Eisenhower Dollar. Struck on a Half Dollar Planchet. AU-58+ (PCGS).The strike is flush with the lower right obverse and upper right reverse borders. While the smaller half dollar planchet had no chance of taking all of the design from the Ike dollar dies, those features that are present are generally sharp. The top of the 9 and at least half of both 7s are present, and with the mintmark area clear there is little doubt that this wrong planchet error is attributed to the Philadelphia Mint in 1977. Untoned satiny surfaces with just the lightest friction precluding a full Mint State rating. Rare and visually dramatic, Mint error enthusiasts are sure to compete vigorously for the honor of securing this Eisenhower dollar.
