1786 Vermont Copper. Landscape. RR-7, Bressett 5-E, W-2025. Rarity-3. VERMONTENSIUM. VF-30 BN (NGC). CAC. A premium example from these dies, richly original surfaces are toned in deep, rich copper-rose. A few swirls of deeper charcoal-russet are scattered about, generally associated with ancient carbon deposits that are hardly significant for a mid grade Vermont. The strike softens a bit toward the upper left obverse and in the opposing area on the reverse, the dies slightly misaligned, but otherwise the detail is impressively sharp to include a bold sun, plow and eye. There are no marks of consequence to smooth, satiny surfaces. Definitely a coin that will see spirited bidding as a well struck, well preserved survivor of the classic Vermont Landscape type. PCGS# 545. From the Martineit Family Collection.
