Lot of (2). Racine, Wisconsin. Racine & Mississippi Rail Road Co. 1850s. $2. PMG Very Fine 20. Remainder. Krause WI-686 SC 8. Ca. 1850s. Lithograph of Ed. Mendel, Chicago. Vignette of Proserpina at left. Banknote format scrip and printed on bond paper. This railroad formed in 1856 as a sort of conglomerate of a few different rail lines. After decades of fiscal ineptitude, the rail line became absorbed into the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Rail Road in 1927. One of these has a name annotation and internal tear spotted by PMG. A truly rare duo.
