Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Bank of Pennsylvania. 1850s. $50. PMG Choice Uncirculated 64. Proof. (PA-480 G190c). Plate B. Six POCs. Printed on India paper only. Imprint of Danforth, Wright & Co. Phila. & New-York. Printed in black with full red tint. Face design as used on $5 notes. Vignette of wide Pennsylvania arms at center. Portrait in lower corners. Stunning color tint and not in the ABN sale. This is the Haxby Plate Note and from the Western Reserve Collection. Quite possibly unique as this is the only example we have handled. We have sold this same note twice before, for $4,025 in 2011 and then again $2,160 in 2018. The bank first opened in 1794 and was in business until it eventually closed in 1857. PMG comments "Previously Mounted."
