Typeset face with ornamental borders. Back imprint "Printed by James Davis, 1778." This was the only motto used on these $2 notes. A little close on the right but otherwise superbly margined. PMG calls this note a Remainder, a fact that shows how the nuances of early American paper money continue to elude them to this day. The $4 and higher denominations have two signatures. The $2 and lower denominations only have a single signature. The detail and light degree of circulation is rarely seen on notes from this scarcer denomination. From our Ford XV sale in 2006 at over $500. In todays rapidly advancing market this should easily be worth double that figure.
