1662 Oak Tree Twopence. Noe-34, Salmon 1-B, W-240. Rarity-5. Large 2. EF-40 (PCGS). 9.6 grains. A handsome representative of this popular and scarce Massachusetts silver type. The diminutive Oak Tree twopence is the only issue of this denomination in the series and also the only one to bear a non-1652 date. This solid XF example offers pleasing surfaces and patina and shows just a modest amount of wear. Natural planchet waviness causes slight weakness to the right obverse legends, otherwise the detail is full and bold with an especially sharp oak tree. From the Norman G. Peters Collection.
