PERU. 20 Soles, 1863-LIMA YB. Lima Mint. NGC MS-62. KM-194; Fr-70. One-year type. Amazing quality, possessing surfaces that are without significant marks and display bold, undiminished luster. The strike is also perhaps unmatched for the issue, with razor-sharp detail in Libertys face and legends and edges that remain bold when they almost always display noteworthy softness. An important type coin for Peru as it represents the highest denomination of coinage issued after the decimal reform which began in 1863 until 1930 (almost 70 years later!) when the Inca 50 Soles were struck. From the Oro del Nuevo Mundo Collection.
