MACEDON. Kingdom of Macedon. Kassander, as Regent, 317-305 B.C. AR Tetradrachm (17.12 gms), Amphipolis Mint, ca. 316-311 B.C. NGC AU, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 5/5. Pr-133. In the name and types of Alexander III (the Great). Obverse: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin; Reverse: Zeus seated left on throne, holding eagle and scepter; in left field, dolphin downward; below throne, pellet-in-Π below throne. A great overall example, this well centered piece presents a bold strike and charming toning, along with great underlying luster. Just a hint of light wear prevents a Mint State designation.
