THRACE. Odessos. AR Tetradrachm (16.36 gms), ca. 90-80 B.C. NEARLY EXTREMELY FINE. Pr-1183; HGC-3.2, 1587. In the name and types of Alexander III (the Great) of Macedon. Obverse: Obverse: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin; Reverse: Zeus seated left on throne, holding eagle and scepter; ΘE in left field; two monograms below throne. Pleasantly toned and boldly struck, this example displays the spread, somewhat stylized nature of the Black Sea posthumous types of Alexander.
