1908 American Numismatic Society Fiftieth Anniversary Medal. Bronze. 23.8 mm. By Victor David Brenner. Miller-19. About Uncirculated. The obverse utilizes the Societys new seal just completed by Brenner, but it is not signed. The reverse with the anniversary dates, in Roman numerals, of the ANS. Only 100 of these were struck by Tiffany & Co. This one with their name on the edge, along with the numeral 81. These were presented to member attendees at the Societys 50th anniversary meeting in New York City. This example with a somewhat lustrous dark bronze finish, with some minor encrustation between the letters and in the devices. Miller notes that all known examples exhibit this trait, so they must have been issued with some verdigris in the patina. From the Richard Jewell Collection.
