Circa 1883 George Washington medal by George T. Morgan. Uniface. Musante GW-1008A, Baker-457F, Obverse Type of HK-125a. Silver. SP-64+ (PCGS).34.9 mm. Vivid rose and blue-green toning cover the obverse while the reverse is pale orange gold at the center, with rings of violet, blue and light champagne around. Boldly prooflike on both sides and offering exceptional aesthetic appeal. Very rare in silver, and overlooked altogether by Hibler and Kappen. This is the Musante plate piece and it is probably one of the prettiest silver pieces in the collection.Ex William Spohn Baker Collection, to the Historical Society of Pennsylvania by bequest, November 15, 1897.
