1809 Capped Bust Dime. JR-1, the only known dies. Rarity-3+. Fine-15 (NGC).Light silver gray surfaces are softly defined along the left obverse and reverse borders, but suitably bold elsewhere for the assigned grade. All design elements are at least partially discernible, and most are boldly outlined. Popular as the premier issue in the Capped Bust dime series, the 1809 is also fairly scarce with just 200 to 300 coins extant from a modest mintage of 51,065 pieces.
