PMG Very Fine 25.This mid-grade First Charter $20 brings the total number of notes known on this rare La Fayette bank to a scant five examples. This is the first $20 to come forward on the bank and it boasts wonderful penned signatures, bold red overprint inks and sharply printed design elements. The Indiana National Bank of La Fayette was chartered in April of 1872 and issued Original Series and Series of 1875 notes only before liquidating in November of 1891. The bank issued a total of $601,250 into circulation during its time in operation though in 1910 just $3058 of that was left outstanding.
