The 1880 silver certificates are all seen with the famous black back designs which prominently display the word "Silver," across the length of the paper on the verso. This being primarily done to instill confidence in paper money by the general public. This number A98219 plate "C," item has been off the market nearly 12 years being last handled in March of 2007 where it was sold uncertified as a Very Fine note for $34,500. The note grades a pleasing Very Fine and displays excellent centering and overall eye appeal. As the market is much more mature today we expect this note to hammer somewhere in our estimated range. ppp
