1795 Flowing Hair Half Dollar. O-122, T-5. Rarity-5. Two Leaves. VG-10 (PCGS).A beautiful and evenly worn example with dove-grey devices set against deeper slate-grey fields. Clash marks in the field around Libertys portrait, a die chip at the border below the digit 9 in the date, and an especially heavy crack arcing through the lower right reverse define the latest known die state, Tompkins Die Stage 5/3. A few light hairlines cross the eagles breast but the surfaces are otherwise without notable marks. One of the scarcer varieties of the date, O-112 is challenging to find with problem free surfaces at any grade level. This original and attractive example will surely draw the attention of both type collectors and specialists. From the Paradise Collection. Earlier ex Heritages sale of January 2018, lot 8232.
