1963 Washington Quarter. MS-67+ (NGC). CAC.A lovely Superb Gem that combines superior technical quality with strong visual appeal. The obverse is brilliant apart from a splash of charcoal-russet over the upper right third of the coin. The reverse is fully toned in a beautiful blend of olive-gold, pinkish-apricot, pale blue and pinkish-silver. Boldly struck and highly lustrous with exceptionally smooth surfaces that border on pristine. While there is no doubt that this is a plentiful issue in an absolute sense -- the mintage is a healthy 74,316,000 circulation strikes -- precious few survivors are as close to pristine as the coin offered here. A find for the Registry Set collector that is sure to sell for a strong premium.
