1871-CC Liberty Seated Dime. Fortin-101. Fine Details--Damage (PCGS).Medium gray surfaces with hints of gold. Attempted puncture at Libertys head. Overall boldly defined across both sides. The mintage of 20,100 pieces is deceptive only in that today so few are known. Perhaps 100 or so exist in all grades, and with increasing collector demand wholesome examples like this never go begging. Needed by far more collectors than there are coins available, this prized Carson City issue is the first appearance from this mint on this denomination.Ex our August 2001 ANA Auction, lot 8358.
