1817 Matron Head Cent. N-14. Rarity-1. 13 Stars--Struck 40% Center--VG-10 (PCGS).This dramatic Mint error is struck off center at 11 oclock, the date full, more than half of Libertys portrait present and the denomination ONE CENT on the reverse complete. The obverse exhibits marbled medium and golden-brown patina, while the reverse exhibits more vivid reddish-copper toning. Scattered marks and swirls of light encrustation are commensurate with the grade, this intriguing piece acquiring a considerable amount of wear despite the obvious nature of the error. Sure to appeal to both Mint error enthusiasts and advanced early copper collectors.
