1817 Matron Head Cent. N-6. Rarity-1. 13 Stars. MS-63 RB (PCGS). CAC.A beautiful Choice example displaying considerable traces of Mint red vibrancy surrounding the design elements. The patina has otherwise mellowed into a medley of tangerine and violet hues across each side. Satiny luster blankets the fields and remains largely uninterrupted by blemishes, contrasting the more glossy texture atop the bold devices. An original and handsome specimen, with just a speck of verdigris at the E of STATES to be noted. Noyes Die State A/A. The Newcomb-6 variety is somewhat common in Mint State but is surprising difficult to find with remnants of original red luster. The present example represents the sole piece certified with the Red Brown designation under the N-6 attribution by PCGS.From the Paradise Collection.
