PMG Very Fine 25.This bank was chartered in April 1865 and opened its doors for business on May 1, a few weeks after the end of the Civil War. The first president was John D. Blake and the first cashier was Moses Kelly. The capital at the outset was $135,000, against a limit of $500,000. On November 7, 1904, it assumed the business of Charter #1893 and changed its name to the National Metropolitan Citizens Bank of Washington. This Red Seal is seen with excellent colors and signatures.
