T-64. Confederate Currency. 1864 $500. PMG Very Fine 30. Remainder.A remarkable 1864 $500 remainder which is one of a very few such notes known. This Keatinge & Ball printed T-64 features a deep red underprint as well as a partial red stamped Confederate Treasury Seal in the bottom left corner. The note never received the black stamped serial numbers seen on this type nor did it receive either the "for Register" or "for Treasurer" signature. Smythes 2003 offering of the Gene Mintz collection featured an uncut remainder sheet of four red tinted T-64 notes which realized $37,375. This is the only single example of the type we have seen in Remainder form. Certainly a significant piece of the Confederate financial record. PMG comments "Minor Repair" on the back of the holder.
