1844 Henry Clay. DeWitt-HC 1844-40. Silvered white metal. 21.5 mm. MS-64 (NGC).,Pierced, as issued. Slightly granular in appearance as silvered white metal pieces often are, but very nicely preserved. Pale blue-green and rose toning over both sides with just enough light silver gray showing through to accentuate the colors. Sharp and nicely preserved. DeWitt did not note these as silvered, and Ford didnt own any such examples either. Quite pretty and likely rare.,From the Brian Dobbins Collection of American Political Tokens. Earlier ex Presidential Coin and Antique, June 1990.,
