Frosty light yellow gold with excellent eye appeal and some hints of orange toning. The merest abrasion on the edge (not the rim) is seen above OS of PESOS; perhaps others are hidden in the encapsulation, but this coin hardly appears damaged. Some light hairlines are present, mostly on the obverse, but this is a very well preserved example of this rarity. The obverse die is heavily cracked, and thin cracks connect many peripheral details on the reverse as well. A historically important rarity, the last of the 5 Pesos issues and the only one coined in .666 fine gold. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian and Ecuadorian Coins.<p>From Glendinings sale of November 1971, lot 594.
