After the Spanish reconquest in 1814 one of the most important leaders of the Chilean War of Independence, Jose Miguel Carrera Verdugo was forced into exile to Montevideo where he continued campaigning. After several victories he was defeated and subsequently executed 4 September 1821 in the city of Mendoza. Light signs of circulation and contact marks consistent with the grade. Nice strike with good definition of the fine details. Light attractive cabinet tone with plenty of underlying luster. NGC AU-55.
