JENNIE / HUBBS on an 1864 copper-nickel Indian cent. Brunk H-861, Rulau-Unlisted. Host coin Fine.,From a nicely prepared punch, curved at top and bottom. The Jennie Hubbs was a stern wheel steamboat launched in 1863 running from Cincinnati to Memphis until it sank in 1866. It was quickly salvaged, repaired and re-launched as the Empire -- which sank again after just two years on the Mississippi and Ohio rivers. This time the ship was unsalvageable and a total loss. A rare counterstamp with a very popular theme. From the Graywood Collection.
