New York--New York. (1847) Wm. J. Mullen. Miller-NY 616. Copper. 33 mm. MS-63 BN (NGC).,Golden-brown surfaces exhibit hints of blue and rose. This intricately detailed store card is one of the most interesting of its era. The die work is absolutely superb. Long cataloged as a Hard Times token (Low-365), research has shown that this token was issued a few years too late -- in 1847 -- and it is now cataloged in the proper time period. One of only two medallic pieces produced by noted sculptress Louisa Lander. The die work is incredibly detailed and ornate.

From the Q. David Bowers Collection. Earlier ex F.C.C.
