T-64. Confederate Currency. 1864 $500. PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ Star.No. 36414, Plate C. PF-3. An absolutely stunning deep red tinted 1864 $500 that is among the most visually striking Confederate notes you are likely to encounter. The printed design elements are sharply detailed and executed in bold inks. The cut is ideal for this type that rarely comes with nice margins. Neatly penned issuing signatures are also found. The motto "DEO VINDICE" at left means "With God as our defender" and was the motto of the Confederate States. A reverent portrait of Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson is seen in the lower right. It is based on a photographic portrait of Jackson taken April 26, 1863 at a Spotsylvania County Farm just seven days before he was fatally wounded at the Battle of Chancellorsville. Among the finest examples we have seen of this type. From The Cleo Collection of Confederate Paper Money.
