An interesting uncut strip of three private merchants scrip notes drawn on the Bank of the State of Alabama at Tuscaloosa. R. Jemison, H.A. Snow, James Hogan and John O. Cummins were the principals of the operation. A large cow is seen on the 6 1/4 Cents note at the top. A bold horse is found on the 12 1/2 Cents notes. The 12 1/2 Cents notes also display the reverse of a Spanish 1 Real coin in the bottom right corner. Most of the notes we have seen from this issuer are remainders. The paper is bright and displays only light handling.
