1829 Capped Bust Half Dime. LM-12. Rarity-6. MS-64 (PCGS).;Exceptional near-Gem quality for this rare die marriage, the typical survivor of which grades VF or lower. Both sides are beautifully toned with cobalt blue peripheral highlights around pinkish-silver centers. The texture is smooth and satiny, the strike full with crisp detail throughout the design. An easily attributable die marriage, the obverse has stars 3 and 4 close to the denticles and a crack through the bases of the digits 29 in the date to the lower right border. On the reverse, an errant serif of a letter C is in the field between the tops of the letters CA in AMERICA. Clearly this lot represents a fleeting bidding opportunity for the advanced early half dime enthusiast.
