1799 (Possibly Circa 1830s) Stuart Portrait Washington Birth and Death Medal. White Metal. 44 mm. Baker-129, Musante GW-84. AU-55 (NGC).;A thoroughly appealing example of this rare and enigmatic type. Handsome pewter gray surfaces exhibit subtle golden peripheral highlights. Both sides are boldly defined with considerable remnants of the original satin to semi-reflective finish. Scattered abrasions and minor carbon spotting are noted. The producer of this medal remains unknown, although its rarity and desirability have long been established in numismatic circles. W.
