1868 Silver Three-Cent Piece. Proof-65 (PCGS).;Pinkish-gray and rose-russet iridescence is seen the obverse, while the reverse is more boldly patinated in warm, even, pewter gray. Direct lighting angles call forth vivid undertones of blue and pink, as well as a lively reflective finish in the fields. This is a very appealing Gem survivor from a mintage of 600 Proof trimes of the date.;From our (Stacks) sale of the John Work Garrett Collection for The Johns Hopkins University, March 1976, part of lot 302.
