Sharply struck and uncommonly smooth for such a large size silver coin with delicate Proof surfaces, this is a superior quality survivor from a mintage of 930 pieces. Given that the associated circulation strike 1885 half dollar is a low mintage affair with just 5,200 coins struck, this beautiful example is equally well suited for high grade type and date purposes.；
