This 1902 $5 Date Back is just the second surviving example from the First National Bank of Sonoma. The FNB was Sonomas only issuing bank, receiving its charter in September 1912 and issuing notes for just over 10 years before liquidating in 1923.

The note displays even circulation and is rather bold and appealing for the grade. The hand signatures of the officers are superb. There are a couple of small minor tears in the top margin that have virtually no effect of its eye appeal. This is just the second note reported on this excessively rare bank. The other, a Fine Plain Back sold in 2008 for $27,600 in a public auction. Its been over 8 years sine that note has sold and with a thriving California national bank note market, we expect this considerably finer note to easily reach or exceed our estimate.
,
