KM-Pn9. Dies by Barre and produced at the Paris mint at a time when much experimentation was being made between the Revolution of 1848 and the coup led by Louis Napoleon a few years later in 1852. Considered a pattern though the word ESSAI is part of the legend design on the reverse. Mostly brown with intense orange surrounding the edges of the devices and legends.
