WESTERN LIAO: temp. Yelü Dashi, 1124-1143, AE cash (5.86g), A-3488, ruler cited by the titles malik aram yinal qaraj on the obverse (in late Kufic Arabic), blank reverse; type found between Kyrgyzstan and Xinjian, VF. Yelü Dashi was the first ruler of the Western Liao dynasty of China, also known as the Qara-Khitay ("Black Cathay"). This type was called a Qarakhanid prototype, A-1510P, before new research.
