1776 Washington Before Boston Medal. Third Paris Mint Issue. First Issued "Original" Obverse / Second Issued Reverse with Corrected Date. Musante GW-09-P2A, Baker-48, Adams-Bentley 3. Bronze. Plain Edge. Extremely Fine, Damaged.68.3 mm. 136.3 grams. Fairly even dark brown on the obverse while the reverse is slightly rosy from an old cleaning. A clearly mishandled piece, with numerous marks and a pronounced rim dent over H of HOSTIBUS. However, this corrected reverse variant is quite rare and many collectors would find this an acceptable filler for an otherwise very challenging medal to locate. Perhaps a dozen or so are known to survive.
